Durham Homestyle Gourmet Catering was born out of the lifetime of experiences and education of Rhonda Couch-Campbell in the fields of catering, floral design, food service and research in the area of health and well being.
Bachelor of Arts degree with an Honors focus on the Quality of Life and Health of Adolescents
Masters of Health Sciences Degree in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention and Health Studies and Gerontology
Diploma in Cooking and Catering
Over 10 years experience in floral design and decorating large weddings
Several years of experience managing deli and catering facilities as well as working in restaurants
Experience working in Public Health in Policy and Planning Department researching healthy lifestyles in the areas of tobacco, alcohol and other substance abuse, physical inactivity, poor nutrition and its relationship to the development of cancer, heart disease, and diabetes
Experience training and educating community partners in both public and mental health fields
Ongoing education in the latest research related to diet and disease
Ongoing research in the latest trends in weddings and catering
PASS with Durham Health, certificate in safe food handling, SMART Serve, Business and Bartending Liability Insurance, WSIB Certified
In 2017, Rhonda was joined full-time, but her husband, Dave Campbell, who recently retired after 28 years working for Toronto and Durham Police Services. Dave comes with many years of experience working part-time in the catering business with Rhonda, as well, as a lifetime of commitment and discipline dedicated to serving the Toronto and Durham Regions.
We continue to grow with dedicated staff, and have developed our brand into catering weddings, events, and corporations.
Since this new partnerships has formed, so has the business developed with the addition of a food truck and a food trailer. The food trailer serves visitors to the Courtice Flea Market on the weekends and the Food Truck is available in Port Perry.
As of August 11, 2018, we have acquired a new location in Whitby. We will first be opening our food truck, serving many types of food truck fare, as well as Kawartha Dairy Icecream. In the fall, we will be opening the country store and pizzeria, followed by an outdoor event venue in 2019.
